This is a problem associated with your air cleaner. Attached to the air cleaner assembly is a 2 wire sensor which monitors the "Intake Air Temperature" or IAT. Check for broken wires. The sensor should read approx 1,500 ohms at the sensor connector during +72 degrees F ambient.

I have a 1997 Nissan 4X4 pickup and the check engine light has been on for four or more years. In Pa. this is not a problem but in Jersey it is. I took it to a mechanic and was told both oxygen sensors and the IAT sensor is bad. The cost to replace is $756.00. I was told that there are no after market sensors available, only OEM but when I went to NAPA and Pep Boys, they had them in stock at less than half the price from the garage.
