Nissan Repair/air bag light flashing
Motohead wrote at 2006-07-10 15:53:22
I had similar problem on Nissan Micra after fitting new seat belt retractor. Here's what worked for me:
1. Turn ignition switch on.
2 After Air Bag warning lamp come on, wait for 7 seconds, turn ignition switch off within 1 second.
3. Wait for more than 3 seconds.
4 Repeat steps 1 to 3 three times.
5. Turn ignition on. SRS is now in Diagnosis Mode.
All should now be OK but make sure you use a stopwatch as times are important!

Hey I think I can help... I have reset this problem on my nissan B4, I found it online too... Do this: Turn the key to ON; dont start the Engine
Leave the drivers door open; push the Door jam switch (the switch on the door jam that turns on the room light) 7 times within 10seconds. Turn the switch OFF. Take the key out. wait 30 seconds, start the Engine ; the Air bag ECU resets if you dont have a problem with the System...

I have a Nissan Micra 1.3 GL (04-1998)I took my steering wheel off turning it a bit to align.
After assemble everything in the same way back as it was in the first place now the Airbag light flashes.
I tried what Motohead wrote and didnīt work for me. I believe maybe I did something wrong. BUT, strange enough the Door jam switch way, DID work! I can believe it because it sounds just strange but it worked. Saved me a lot of money again from going to the Nissan garage. Thank you so much for the answer!

I had a similar problem on my micra after replacing the battery. I tried the door switch method but no success. The method suggested by Motohead worked at the second attempt - brilliant and thank you. I was quoted Ģ60 for a system check and then a reset if all was OK

I Can not beleive how simple it was to reset the air bag light on micra sports. Followed Motoheads advise -took three attemtps to get timing right and low and behold it reset - thank you to all who offer this advise and a special thanks to Motohead. As we say in Ireland I owe you a pint!

smiling to myself here tried motoheads method several times and worked thought he was taking the piss. Start counting the 7 seconds when the airbag light comes on straight away dont wait for it to flash.

Re Airbag Warning Flashing: Came on as i hit a pothole haha. got home, checked connections under seat, followed reset unsing ignition key on/off per expert. Bloddy marvellous - hopefully saved me a fortune in these hard times. due to change car next week so didn't need additional expense. hope it lasts that long.

Thank you so much Motohead. I have just reset my airbag warning light with your instructions! It cost me Ģ25 at the garage last time it happened (it seems to be when I go over a bump or have to stop suddenly that it triggers the light). Thanks again and Happy New Year!

Guru's suggested method worked for me on my friend's 2005 1.2 Micra after a couple of tries. She now thinks I'm a genius. This interweb is good innit. Thanks people.

Just reset the flashing light on 2006 nissan Micra using the on off technique. Worked first time. Note that when turning off only turned to the ignition off position (not marked on lock but would be position 1). Not all the way off to the lock position. Turn off at 7 seconds (as soon as light goes off the start flashing)

Neither of the systems worked for me, so I checked out YouTube "how to turn off airbag light", and the system of turning the ignition off and on 5 times, as the flash starts worked a treat.
Grobbies wrote at 2014-10-14 16:22:11
Had do it just now Stage (1) Take your cars key and put it in the airbag on/off slot inside your baggage box (2) turn slot in off position (3)turn on ignition switch (4) Orange light will be on and the red light (5) Use the 7 second wait and then switch off (It takes 7 seconds before it begins to flash)(6) Do it 3 times (7) The 4th time hold on and you will see it will flash slower (8) Turn ign switch off Put airbag switch on and put the car again on The flasher Is reset And work normally 2011 Micra

I can confirm that the door jam method worked on my Micra K11 1999! I had the airbag led flashing after some work on the steering wheel... It worked after some tries, needed to understand ho to do it... I just recommend to press 7 times the switch ad soon as the led turns on when you turn on the ignition, while it is still! Thank you very much guys!!!
Les Morris wrote at 2014-11-27 13:15:07
Grabbies answer is the one to follow. Works perfectly using the method of turning off your airbag switch located inside the passenger door, using his clear instructions,(no need to count to seven just switch off the ignition key quickly when the red light starts to flash) you should be able to fix your problem in a few minutes, but don't forget to switch the airbag switch, back on!

Motohead's advice worked for my petrol 2006 Micra. As fin mentioned start counting 7 sec as soon as the air bag light comes on when you turn the ignition key to ON. I used the timer on my mobile: one hand turns the ignition (the air bag light comes in immediately) and the other hand simultaneously starts the timer. The key is to turn the ignition OFF just before the air bag light starts flashing. The 7 seconds is just the right time to wait.
I believe that after my first successful attempt of Motohead's method the air bag light was still flashing but slower. It took another attempt (3 ON/OFFs) for the light to disappear completely.
Thanks again for this thread!

Thank you, Motohead and thank you, fin (for pointing out you don't wait for the light to flash). Worked for me first time once I applied the right method.

Marcel wrote at 2015-04-10 04:16:41
Did the method to turn the airbag light ignition off before it started the first flash (which is about 7 seconds after ignition on) three times in total. The 7 seconds is exactly when the light goes off the first time. I switched off the ignition exactly after the light had gone off (normally when faulty it would start blinking at that point). After 3 times the light stayed off permanently. So it worked fine. Many thanks. You saved my girlfriend 100 NZ$ :-) Thanks heaps and a kiss from my girlfriend ;-)

I did take my Nissan March to a machanic to see after air conditioning problem. He fixed the problem without charge since he had worked on it previously.. However I found it strange that he kept the ignition key with him and I had to wait almost 5 hrs before he arrived at the garage.when he did arrive he went straight to unscrewing steering .removing wheel and replacing what he called the ribbon.when he was done I took it for a test drive ,but I noticed airbag light keep flashing.he said that after 2 days or so it would go away.it never did.it is now seven days.
Thank god I found this info from you .i just tried it and it worked on the second try. May Almighty God richly reward all of you.

This works on a Nissan X-trail too! My airbag warning light started flashing after I had adjusted the height of my steering wheel - no reason for this, I was just idly wasting time whilst waiting for my daughter to finish shopping :-) Checked my owners manual which said I MUST take it to an authorized Nissan dealer for a system service ???? I wasn't too keen on this idea as, apart from the cost, the main dealer is 30 miles away. Decided to check for possible solution online and found this posting. After 5 attempts it worked so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
