Question
Mr. Dong, I am in the opposite circumstance of your 9/2/2008 inquiry.
I am a US citizen who married a Chinese citizen in US last year.  We are seeking divorce, but now live in China.  It isn't feasible for my spouse to return with me to US. How might we obtain a divorce in China with US documents?

Answer
Since you registered your marriage in US, generally speaking, you should get divorce proceeding in US.

I'm sure the China Civil Affairs Bureau won't take your divorce application.

Most Chinese court will not take your divorce case. But you can take a try at the court where your wife lived.

In mine mind, you can take a divorce case in US without your wife's appear in the court.
