Nonprofit Law - bylaws set up

Expert: Harvey Mechanic - 6/29/2009

Question
Thanks for your prior answer to a question - given your response and the links you provided & conversations with the toll free number at the IRS it became apparent that we need to toss out our current operating bylaws & create a new set to reflect our new, compliant set up.  Do you have a link to a "good" set of bylaws for a non profit booster club that we might use as a "go by" to get started to turn over to our attorney for review so we don't have to pay for the attorney to start from scratch?

Answer
I generally give my clients standard bylaws for 501(c)(3) organizations and then, as to the issues you are referring, to, I would simply have them adopt operating procedures in accordance with my
http://snipurl.com/boosterinf
which is my summary of IRS regulations relating to 501(c)(3) booster organizations. You may be interested to read that.

Also, I would be willing to work on your matter, but I would need to spend a substantial amount of time and that would be beyond the scope of this free forum. If you want to hire me for such work, please contact me directly to the email address below. You may save a substantial amount of money because your attorney probably does not have much experience in the area of 501(c)(3) booster organizations.

My sample bylaws for a 501(c)(3) organization are at:

I do not have any sample bylaws specifically for a booster organization.
