Question
My client has a 501c3 and recently an individual in town died and the family asked that in lieu of flowers all contributions be made to my client's 501c3.  Are these donations tax deductible and is there anything else my client needs to be aware of in accepting these donations?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
They appear to be normal donations (without the donors expecting anything tangible in return).  Therefore, the 501(c)(3) organization would simply follow the IRS Publication "Charitable Donations --- Substantiation
and Disclosure Requirements"
www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1771.pdf
