Subject: Relocate to NC state line near Hwy 25

Question
My husband and I want to relocate to a town closest to the NC border as possible without crossing over into SC.  He works in Greenville, SC, but my disability Social Security comes out of NC.  We do not want to disrupt that and have to re-apply all over again.  Can you recommend and country towns?

Answer
I can't be a huge amount of help, sorry to say, as I live off in the center of the state and haven't spent a great deal of time in the area you're discussing.

I can tell you that, for a small town, I liked what I saw of Columbus on a couple of visits. And I hear a great deal of positive word-of-mouth about Tryon, but I have simply never been there. Looking at your requirements and reviewing the map suggest that either of those would be a good place to start. You have to add miles to the commute to find the next closest towns, such as Saluda and Flat Rock -- and if I recall, a fair climb up the mountains along I-25 northwest of Columbus.

Good luck with your search!

Bill
