AboutRoy Helge Rasmussen Expertise I live in the southern part of norway and can find my way around most of the country. I will answer questions about social life, culture, language and politics to the best of my knowledge. I am not so good at travel tips outside the south-eastern parts, although I will try to answer.
Experience I live here and have been guiding members of my family around when they visit from abroad for years.
Question Roy, thank you for answering questions of all things Norway.
I have looked all over the Internet and can find phonetic English approximations of many Norwegian words and phrases (such as “Det regner” might be “deh rai-nehr”) but I have yet to find an English phonetic approximation of “Kongeriket Norge”. I am wondering if that phrase is even proper Norwegian and if you could try your hand at a phonetic version a North American speaker of English might be able to use?
Thanks!
Answer co(ng)eh-Reekeh nohRgeh
konge - like (king) KONG-eh
R - like spanish rolling R (both places)
h is just there to prevent english speaker from diphtonizing the vowels.
