I have also asked the same question at another forum and been informed that the series:

1 + 1/2 + 1/3 + 1/4 + 1/5 + …. + 1/(n-3) + 1/(n-2) + 1/(n-1) + 1/n

is called the "harmonic series", which has a good Wikipedia page with an easy-to-understand proof that it is infinite:
