Question I'm very frustrated. I have been dieting on and off for over 20 years now. I'm 38. 5 feet 2 inches tall and weigh 240 lbs. I know that I need to make this a life style not a "diet" and the older I get the more my concern has shifted from looks to health. I have hypothyroidism that was diagnosed about 13 years ago. Other than that I'm fairly healthy. No high blood pressure, etc. For the past 2 weeks I have been keeping a food diary and keeping track of calories. I stay under 1500 calories a day. I also do a cardio/weight training program 6 times a week. I lift small weights, lots of reps. I also drink at least 64 oz of water a day. I do feel better however the scale has not changed at all...not even one pound. Why? What can I be doing wrong? I don't expect to have 10 lbs gone...but I do expect to have a least 1 lb gone. It doesn't make sense to me that someone my size would have no result after two weeks. Don't get me wrong, I do feel better. Its always been easy for me to make excersizing a bit of an addiction and it feels really good that I'm doing it. What can I be doing wrong?? I also try to eat as naturally as possible. Help.. :(
Answer Pam,
It's more important how you compose your meal from the carb:fats:protein ratio standpoint that counting calories, especially with your thyroid problem. Are you having enough good fats? Are you watching what kind of carbs you have? You might plainly be undernourished plus, overloading your insulin system.
I suggest that you try our free online plan and see what happens. Many people exactly like yourself succeeded, 92 percents of our dieters.
