Question Hi, I am a 14-year-old girl with a height of about 5 feet 4 inches and I weigh 140 pounds. I have extra fat from my waist down to my upper thighs (and look very out of proportion) and would like to lose about 25 pounds. I am eating about 1200 to 1400 calories a day (whole grains, lean meats, 1% milk, veggies, and fruits - NO junk food!) and I am exercising between 1 and 2 hours almost every day using Jillian Michael's videos. She kicks butt! I do aerobics and then a strengthening/trouble spot routine. I also drink about 10 glasses of water a day and take a vitamin a day. I've been doing this for about 3 weeks now, and I haven't lost anything! What am I doing wrong?
Previously, although I was eating a lot more in quantity, I ate basically the same things as above, but I only exercised using the 10-minute Solutions videos (a total of usually 20 minutes) and wasn't much more active than that. I wasn't really gaining or losing weight doing that.
Since I'm eating less and exercising more and not losing weight, what am I doing wrong? I am so frustrated!
Answer Dear Courtney, You are not doing anything wrong. I would calculate your daily calories to make sure you are eating 1400 per day. If you are working out hard, you might be gaining muscle weight, which weighs more than fat, so you could be getting smaller in size while maintaining the same weight. Go to Jillian Michaels website and go to her support line. Hopefully they can shed some light on your weight loss concerns while following her program. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
