Question
Reading food labels many of them say total fat but list nothing under saturated, polyunsat, monounsat, trans, etc.  Where is the fat coming from if not from not one of the ones listed?

For example:
8 grams total fat
2 grams saturated fat
0 grams trans fat

What comprises the remaining 6 grams?

Answer
Kristie,

Fats fall into these categories:
Saturated fat
Unsaturated fat (polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fat)
Trans-fatty acids

So, if the total fat is 8 grams and there are 2 grams of saturated fat and 0 grams of trans fat, then there are 6 grams of unsaturated fat.

There you go.
