Nutrition & Dieting - Rebound exercise

Expert: Nevil Kapadia - 4/23/2007

Question
Is it true that people can lose 150 calories by doing rebound exercise for 2 minutes? What if I don't do fancy moves on the trampoline but jump up and down instead? Can I lose 150 cal within 2 min?

Answer
Hi Kate,
It is true that rebound exercises can burn a lot of calories- and they are les stressful on the joints than other types such as running.

The amount you can burn depends on your own metabolism- which in turn depends upon what you eat regularly.
I suppose 150m calories is achievable if you have a very high metabolism and work extrememly hard for the 2 minutes.
In the end though, what are you trying to achieve by hoping that you only exercise for 2 mintes?

I would stay real and do a full workout and enjoy it rather than trying to cut corners.

Regards
Nevil
