Mary Jo, it is quite reckless to encourage a fifteen year old to eat "steaks, fried eggs and hamburgers" without even mentioning cholesterol, fat and heart disease.

Sulman, the most important aspect of weight loss is exercise. You must burn more calories than you take in. Burgers, steaks, etc. are fine in moderation but the main drawback to diets such as "Adkins" is it encourages the consumption of foods that are as unhealthy as carrying the extra weight. What's the point of being at your ideal weight if you die at forty? I have had a weight problem since childhood, I've been at a healthy weight for some time now, in the end one must simply want to lose the weight enough to lose it. Best of luck, you can lose weight...I did.
