Nutrition & Dieting - fruit diet

Expert: Todd Bublitz, RCEP - 7/31/2006

Question
is it safe to just eat fruit for about a week to lose weight?  Apples, oranges, bananas, peaches, etc.

Answer
Mike,

Fruit is good, but this idea is too extreme.  Any "diet" that is temporary or limits food groups will not work.  Once you go back to your "old" diet, you will almost certainly gain the weight back.

For a diet plan to work, it must be a life-time commitment.  Any healthy diet must include all the food groups.  Moderation and common sense is the key.

I suggest you read the American Heart Association book called the "No Fad Diet".

Good luck.

Todd
