Question Hi - can you please help me? I have crazy OCD habits that I just can't snap out of. At night before I go to sleep, I have a whole routine that takes me about 10-15 minutes. Besides just constantly checking to make sure the windows are locked and the gas is off, I do things like open and close the doors as many times as it takes until i feel that they close the right way, or pick up and put down the door mats a million times until I feel that they are put on the floor correctly. Throughout the day, I do things to the point that it takes up a good amount of my time. Whenever I place things on a table, I'll play with it until I feel that it's placed perfectly. When I walk away from my desk, the chair has to be put just right and if I accidently brush one hand against a wall, I have to do it to the other hand to make it even.
There are many other things like the above that I do every day and I just can't deal with it anymore. It makes me so aggravated and upset but I just can't seem to help myself. Can you please help me? This is going on for so long and I'm tired of it.
Thank you, I greatly appreciate your help.
Answer Hi,
I am so sorry to hear your OCD aggravates you greatly. Based on your information and statements, I recommend you to see psychiatrist(a medical doctor) who can help you to get your OCD under control and possibility on medication to reduce or stop your impulsiveness.
You may get therapy sessions as well. Good luck and keep me posted with your progress.
