Answer noel normally sets the DD5 to repeat in time with the song (usually mode 1-4, depends on the song), which can only be done with the tempo footswitch thing, which you can buy extra - or you can fiddle with the nobs until you find the exact correct timing... could take a while though.
the tubescreamer again depends on the song - he doesnt use it that often. for champagne supernova, id suggest drive 7/8, level 6/7 and tone right the way up to 10.
