About Dougie Davidson Expertise I can answer any question at all regarding the pop/rock group Oasis or on Noel Gallagher. This includes any questions regarding songs, concerts, personal life, collaborations with other artists, opinion on issues/other stars etc
Experience I have been an Oasis fan since 1994 and have studied their successes, progress and failures in detail since then.
I own over 400 cds, over 100 dvds, have seen them live 41 times and have studied every interview Noel Gallagher has ever given, tkaing notes, comments and quotes from each. As a result of this I have several indexed files, and I am able to quote what Noel has said, or what his opinion is of any event, celebrity or issue he has ever commented on.
In addition, I have several files detailing exactly what they have done, where they have gone, what they have said etc from 29 May 1967 - the day Noel Gallagher was born. This is particularly detailed from January 1994, when the press became aware of them, and I am able to provide details of exactly what they did in any given month/on any given day.
I have also studied each individual song and for each one I can detail when, where and why it was written/recorded, what it is about, how long it took to write/record and the relevant success of it. Due to the amount of research I have done these details are all facts, which Noel Gallagher has actually said, and not just my personal 'take' on it.
Obviously I know every concert/tv/radio appearance Oasis have given, and have the set-list for the vast majority of these. I also know every guest appearance Noel Gallagher has made, either recorded or on-stage with other performers.
I am very confident I would be able to answer any question regarding Oasis quickly, accurately and in detail, with relevant quotations given.
Lastly, to demonstrate my respect for Noel Gallagher - my 10 year old son is named Noel after him!
Organizations I have been a member of the official Oasis mailing list/fan club since 1994.
Publications I post regularly on the official Oasis web-site and am respected as a valuable source of information.
In addition, I am currently writing a book about Noel Gallagher.
Education/Credentials I have a diploma in Spanish, meaning that I could answer questions in Spanish, as well.
I also studied to become a journalist for a short while. This course was extremely difficult to access, and I only got on to it because my English/writing skills were deemed as being to the high standard required.
Question Hi I am a fan of Noel and I would like to know who his girlfriends have been,I
know Meg Matthews and Sara MacDonald but are there more?
Thank you!
lis
Answer Hi Lis :) I hope you are well :)
Noel has always described himself as not being your typical rock star when it comes to girls, there have only been 2 times in his life when he led this type of life - once when he was a roadie with Inspiral Carpets and also when Definitely Maybe came out. Apart from those times, hes always been a 'one-woman man'.
The first mention of ANY girlfriend ever was in his brother, Paul's book, named (originally enough!) 'Brothers'. This mentions a girl called Janet Doyle, when he was aged 8!! ha ha He was then engaged to a girl called Diane, who was from Levenshulme when he was 18, this is in the same book. Paul Gallagher says that he did not think that Diane was a serious engagement, he felt that Noel was 'playing at it' and not really serious.
Louise Jones was the next serious girlfriend, and there is no doubting the influence and effect she had on Noel and also on Oasis. Noel lived with her for 6 years, moving out of his family home in 1989 to move in with Louise in her flat in Manchester. They had a stormy relationship by all accounts, apparantly Lousie was quite moody (as Noel can be, too!), had a strong personality and this led to arguments and them splitting up several times, only to get back together again a couple of days later.
Louise Jones is important in Oasis history for the following reasons:
- the classic 'Slide Away' was written for her.
- she inspired 'Married With Children'. The lines 'your musics s***e, it keep me up all night' were actually said by Louise Jones to Noel one night, when he was practising and she was getting fed up with it! Noel said he 'had to keep those lines' and then wrote MWC!
- Louise Jones was the first person ever to hear 'Liver Forever', although Noel said that she was 'very uninterested'.
Noel described them as 'soulmates' and when they finally split up in June 1994 Noel said 'I don't think I'll ever get over it' because she meant so much to him.
He apparantly went out briefly with MTV presenter Rebecca De Ruvo, although it is not clear if this is completely true or not. Rebecca was a friend of Meg Matthews and shared a flat with her. If Noel did go out with her then it was only for around 1 month or so, as by December 1994 he was with Meg.
Obviously you said that you know about Meg, so I will not mention too much about her, only that they got married on 5 June 1997 in Las Vegas (if you need more details about the wedding eg guests, what they were wearing etc etc then let me know), that their daughter was born on 27 January 2000 and that Meg is the subject of Wonderwall and The Girl In The Dirty Shirt, and possibly a couple of other songs.
Noel now denies that Wonderwall was actually written for Meg, but there seems to be little doubt that it was.
Noel and Meg split up with Meg officially in August 2000 and their divorce went through on 19 January 2001.
He has been with Sara McDonald from then until now and seems extremely happy and settled with her. Obviously she is pregnant and their baby is due in September. Noel wrote 'She Is Love' for her.
If you require any further details, or want to ask any more questions please let me know - I could have written for pages and pages but didn't want to bore you!!
