Expertise
I can answer questions about all of the band`s albums, singles, rare tracks, and lyrics. I am knowledgeable in the history of the band, release dates for albums and singles, and have many books on Oasis to refer to if I don`t know the answer off the top of my head. If you`re looking for a rare Oasis song, I can tell you where to find it. In addition, if you give me just a few of the lyrics, I can tell you the name of the song and what album or single you`ll find it on.

Oasis - Rare song??

Question
I recently have downloaded a song called "Come in" from Napster.  It is supposedly an unreleased song by Oasis, but I can't figure out when it was written.  I'm also wondering if Oasis even wrote such a song. I like the song and would like to learn to play it on the guitar.  I was wondering if you knew anything about this song.  Is it by Oasis or did someone else write it?  Thanks!

Answer
Hi Thomas,
After a few tries I was finally able to find the song you mentioned on Napster.  First of all, this is definitely NOT an Oasis song.  Rather, it appears to be a parody of Oasis in general.  The person singing is trying to imitate lead singer Liam Gallagher's "whiny" vocal styling, and the lyrics are poking fun at the way songwriter Noel Gallagher "borrows" (or steals, as some might say) chords and lyrics from other songs and incorporates them into his own.  My guess is that this was a "Weird Al" Yankovic style parody written for British radio, since Oasis aren't that big in America anymore.  I have no idea who wrote it, but, then again, many of these parodies performed by no-name artists often go uncredited.

By the way, just for your information, many of the songs on Napster are erroneously labeled.  For example, there's a song on Napster called "Robin Hood" that is listed under Oasis, yet Oasis have never written or recorded such a song.  Someone else e-mailed me asking about this song, and as soon as I downloaded it I knew it wasn't Oasis material.  If you ever come across a song that you don't think is performed by the band it is listed under, you're probably right.  Napster isn't perfect since human error comes into play, but at least it's free (for now, anyway).

If you ever find any other Oasis songs that you have questions about, feel free to send me a message.  I hope this helps.
