ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - when is the 1st appt?

Expert: Lawrence Jay Rappaport M.D. - 7/21/2004

Question
I have one son, who is 16 months. My last mentrual period was 6/23/2004. Yesterday I tested positive with a hpt. My question is when do I call to make a appt. I am also swtiching doctors, b/c my previous doctor was only a gyn. So I will be a new ob patient. Thanks so much in advance! I also know that I Ovulated on July 9th - cycle day 17. Also could you tell me how many weeks I am? I normally have a 29-30 day cycle. Thanks...

Beth

Answer
If your last period started on June 23 and you normally have a 29-30 day cycle, ovulation usually occurs on cycle day 15-16. You can, therefore, conceive if you have sex on cycle day #14-18. In any case, you are now 4 weeks pregnant and are due on March 29, 2005. You should make an appointment with the obstetrician at 8 weeks from the first day of your last period, or on August 17. Good luck.
