ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - what is going on with my period?

Expert: Suzette RN BSN - 11/2/2008

Question
I am 26yrs old. I have a son who is 3. My last period was September 23 to the 26 2008. which was a little short. I usually have a 29 to 32 day cycle. On October 16 I had experienced spotting (which was the first time this had ever happened) it continued till October 24th. It was just a drop of brown blood when I urinated. Just enough to see the color on the toilet paper. I had not gotten my period when I was supposed to and I took a home pregnancy test on October 29th then another one today. November 1 (although I did not use the first morning urine. One was in the afternoon and another one at night.) I have begun to experience pain in my uterus and back, Kidneys on Oct 31 and on Nov 1 its constant and does not get worse or better and is not sharp. My breasts are also sore beginning today Nov 1, Can you help me to figure out what the problem may be. I have a feeling I may be pregnant. Is it in my head? or could it be that the home pregnancy tests just don't work on me? How long should I wait to see a doctor, or retest? I'm very confused, since I never spotted before! Thank you

Answer
Chastity,
If you still are feeling pain, I think you should go to the ER. You might have a fibroid or an ovarian cyst. I think you should be seen in case sooner rather than later. I'm sorry, I can't help you more than that, but I do think you need to see a doctor. Good luck!
