Question
I had baby 7 1/2 weeks ago never had a period since, however I think I had thought Friday night I started bleeding and then on Monday it stopped is that normal?

Answer
Yes!  Your bleeding at 7 1/2 weeks is lochia, or the normal bleeding after childbirth. Sometimes lochia can be spotty, or on-again off-again, at the end of the postpartum period.

Most women resume menstruation 6 to 9 months after childbirth. But some women ovulate MUCH earlier. So make sure that you use birth control if you do not want to become pregnant right away.

If your bleeding becomes very heavy, and bright red, or if you develop a fever, see your OBGYN.
