About Brenda
Expertise
I have been an R.N. since 1988 and come from a family of nurses. I have clinical experience in labor and delivery, as well as post-partum care and pre-term pregnancy complications. I have also worked in Community Health Clinics dealing with this area of expertise, including WIC (Women, Infant, & Children) clinics performing nursing evaluations and assessments in determining a need for services or intervention for pregnant women, newborns, and young children. I have worked in immunization clinics in and around my community as well. I also have several years experience in OB and Pediatric Home Care Nursing. In addition to that, I am a mother of two, ages 21 and 16, both of which I had hoped would be vaginal deliveries, but ended up being C-Sections... one of which had me in pre-term labor...another which was frank breech (bottom first)... one who rejected the breast... and so on... to list my personal experience would be a bit lengthy! I'd simply like to help anyone who might have a question or concern that I can draw on my expertise to answer!

Question
my height is 5 ft 2 inch and my weight is 86 kg.my age is 29.please tell me is that effect on my fertility?        what do you think about it?can i loose weight to get pregnant?what is your opinion about my weight?which weight is suitable to me?

Answer
Dear Abida,

With a height of 5'2", your weight of 86kg (approx. 190 lbs) gives you an estimated BMI (Body Mass Index) of 34.7. BMI is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. Again, obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 and above. According to The National Institutes of Health, your ideal weight would be 136 lbs. But please keep in mind that losing even 10-20 lbs. can dramatically increase your ability to conceive a pregnancy. You would be SO surprised how easy this is by making even small changes in your diet and choosing some form of activity to add to each day for even 15 minutes. And once you start, you'll be motivated to add even more minutes and make even more small changes!  :-)

In my previous answer(s) to you, I outlined the issues concerning obesity and fertility. Please refer back to those for information regarding the effect of your weight on your ability to conceive a pregnancy.

I hope this has helped you!!
