About Mohamed Kandeel
Expertise I can answer questions about antenatal care, medical problems associated with pregnancy, labor and delivery and postpartum care.
Experience Currently I am working as a Professor of Obstetrics gynecology, Menofyia University, Egypt. Since 1987, I worked in many university and private hospitals with a high load of pregnant population averaging 7-9,000 deliveries/year. This exposed me to all problems associated with pregnancy, labor and delivery. QUESTION: I miss my period for the month of April, but My period came on the 7 of may and went off on the 10 of may. Also win my period was on I had really bad cramps and I never have cramps my stomach still hurts.
Answer Dear Kim
Your complaint may not be significant at all on 1 side but may be extremely significant on the other side. You can be having a threatened abortion of normal pregnancy which can be treated safely and effectively in most cases.
On the other hand, If your period in May was atypical, meaning unusal in amoumt or duration of bleeding(especially if u always had regular ones before), if the cramps u feel are localized to 1 side of your abdomen, this may indicate an ectopic pregnancy which sometimes can be accompanied by a mild rise in teperature or a sensation of nausea. I advise a trans-vaginal ultrasound to make a proper diagnosis and intervention according to results.
Good Luck
