ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - missed pills-pregnant

Expert: Dr. Harriet Johnson - 11/2/2009

Question
I am 23 years old and have been on the pill. I recently went on vacation and forgot my pills. My last period was 10/05/09. The 10/19th-22nd I missed my pill. I began to spot on the 22nd and bled until the 26th. My question is what are the chances of me being pregnant? I did have unprotected sex on the 19th and 21st. I'm worried because I was ovulating on the 20th and I know because of the missed pills my period cycle is now thrown off. I have a 28 day cycle and my period originally was suppose to begin 11/02. Could I be pregant? How soon can I test?

Answer
Hi Marisol,

Theres a high chance you may be pregnant, especially as you were spotting which could indicate implantation bleeding. You can test anytime now, if you're pregnant you should have enough pregnancy hormones for it to be detected on a pregnancy test. Good luck!
