ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - pregnancy

Question
I am 34 weeks pregnant and for the past couple days I have had extreme vaginal discomfort. I'm finding myself having to pee every 10 minutes. I find it difficult to walk. this is my first pregnancy. I go to a clinic, the doctors only there on thursdays so it's difficult to ask questions to a doctor that doesn't know my case. The last appointment the doctor told me that the baby was head first. My questions are, are thoose symptoms are normal? And does it mean she can come earlier then the 40 week mark?

Answer
In the latter part of the third trimester, it is very common to experience this discomfort. You are in the home stretch now, unfortunately pressure will increase and you will continue to be uncomfortable for a few more weeks. This is all perfectly normal, and you should not be alarmed. It may even be the case that the baby has descended into the birth canal or "dropped". Try to get off of your feet as much as possible and try to use a body pillow at night between your legs and along the underside of your stomach. This can help alleviate some of that discomfort felt from the pressure while you are laying down. This does not necessarily mean that she is ready to come out just yet. Unfortunately they have timing that is all on their own accord and they can be pretty sneaky about when they decide to grace us with their presence. I hope you have found this helpful, please do not hesitate to follow up if you have any other concerns.

Best Wishes,
Cheryl A. Hetherington
