Question
I had my tubes cut and burnt 13 years ago. Now I am feeling like I am pregnant. Morning sickness, weight gain, heartburn, tenderbreasts, fatigue, mood swings. Can I be pregnant?

Answer
Dear Melissa

It is a very remote possibility that you are pregnant after 13 years of coagulating your tubes.

Having a transvaginal ultrasound is the best way to exclude pregnancy. A home pregnancy test can be useful if you are 2 weeks late after your missed period.

Good Luck

Experience

Currently I am working as a Professor of Obstetrics gynecology, Menofyia University, Egypt. Since 1987, I worked in many university and private hospitals with a high load of pregnant population averaging 7-9,000 deliveries/year. This exposed me to all problems associated with pregnancy, labor and delivery. I had my doctorate degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1996 in the use of Doppler ultrasound in high risk pregnancies.
