Question -
I'm 23 years old.
No children
Nov 6 was first day of last peroid.

I went off the pill in July, got my period October, 28 days later, got it again (November 6), and I am now on day 36/37. I have take two HPT, both came back negative. The last time I had sex was on the 8th day of my last cycle (around Nov 15). I had a biopsy done mid November also and am wondering if that has had anything to do with my cycle being messed up. I've had light cramping the past two weeks or so like I was going to start and my face has broken out as it usually does right before I start. What is going on? I am not trying to get pregnant, nor do I want to be, and I'm hoping that the "surgery" I had on my cervix is the cause to this madness. What's going on?
Answer -
If you normally have a 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. If your last period started on November 6, then you would have ovulated around November 19 and could have conceived if you had unprotected sex on November 18,19,20 or 21. If you did, indeed, conceive on one of those days, a pregnancy test would not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your next period. You were due for your period to start on December 3. The best time to take a pregnancy test is after December 10. If it is still negative, you are not pregnant. The colposcopic biopsies would not interfere with a pregnancy test or mess up your cycle since they have nothing,at all, to do with your hormonal balance. If you do not get your period next month and still have a negative pregnancy test, your doctor can "bring on" your period using Provera 10mg twice a day for 5 days and you should get your period within 10 days. Good Luck.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOU HELP, I REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

I have one more question, if you don't mind...I took a HPT Monday, December 6th and Saturday December 12th both yeilding a negative result. Do you think those are good to "trust"? Also, you mentioned that I would begin ovualating around the 19th. If I had sex on the 13th, am I "in the clear"? Is is "normal" to menstrate a couple times and then skip a month after getting off BCP?

Thanks again and sorry, that was more like three questions!

Answer
As I said, the best time to have taken a pregnancy test would have been after December 10. Since you took one on December 12, and it was negative, you are definitely NOT PREGNANT.  If you ovulated on November 19, then you only could have conceived if you had sex on November 18,19,20, or 21. YOu could not have become pregnant on the 13th because it was too early and you had not ovulated yet. After stopping the pill, you may take a few months before your cycle is regular again.
