Question
Oh,

Then should I be concerned that I have no major symptoms at this point in time yet since it is five weeks?

Question -
My last period was on May 28th.  The only possible date of conception was June 11th since I have not had intercourse since then.  Wouldn't that make me three weeks pregant or am I misunderstanding how it is calculated?

No I do not have any bleeding or severe cramping.

Hello,

I just recently found out I am pregnant.  I am only about three weeks along.  My first pre-natal appointment is in two weeks.  This is the first pregnancy for me and I am totally new at this.

I have no idea what to expect.  And I am one who always worries a lot.  Anyway, I have had some pain in my abdomin here and there.  A couple times it felt like my period was coming on (that sort of cramping).  It's never severe and doesn't last long.  I am not having any bleeding or anything.

In addtion, I'm having little if any symptoms yet.  One day early last week and one day late in the week, a smell triggered my gag reflect but that was it for that.  My breasts were really sore for about two days last weekend but really not since.

I am worried if anything is wrong.  Or if this is normal since I am so early on.  I really wouldn't worry at not having many symptoms yet if I hadn't had some pain in my abdomin.  I'm worried it is a miscarriage or something.

Should I be worried?  Should I go to the hospital?

Thanks

You did not mention when the first day of your last period was, so I do not know exactly how far pregnant you are. You claim to be three weeks pregnant, so I assume that your last period started on June 12 (and you conceived around June 25). In early pregnancy, the only symptoms you have are some nausea, fatigue, and occasional breast tenderness. It is normal to have occasional abdominal cramping. As long as you are not having heavy bleeding and menstrual cramping, you probably are fine. The best time for your first visit is 8 weeks after the date of your last period. Don't worry about anything until then, unless you start to have heavy bleeding or severe cramping. Good luck.
Answer -
If your last period started on May 28, then you did ovulate on June 10 and could have only conceived if you had unprotected sex on June 9,10,11 or 12. We count a pregnancy (gestational age) from the first day of your last period (not from the date of conception). Therefore, you are now 5 weeks 1 day pregnant (or 3 weeks from the day of conception).

Answer
Don't be concerned if you do not have any major symptoms ye. You may start feeling nauseated at certain times of the day, you may have some fatigue, and some breast tenderness, but you may not have any of these symptoms either. I would suggest that you get a sonogram in two weeks from now. By then, you should see a fetus and a fetal heartbeat.Good Luck.
