Question i have a very regular 28 day cycle. My husband and i have been trying for over a yr for concieve. There are different charts that tell me different times to know when im most fertile... can you simplify it for me so i know what days of my cyle we should be trying? Thankyou.
Answer If you have a regular 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. YOu can ONLY become pregnant if you have sex on cycle day #13, 14, 15, or 16. If you do become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after you miss your period. You can purchase an ovulation predictor kit from the pharmacy to further pinpoint the exact day of ovulation, if you wish. Try having intercourse from the day before ovulation until 4 days after ovulation. If you have been trying to conceive for more than a year, it is time to consult a gynecologist and start a work-up to test your endometrium, tubes, whether you are really ovulating, and check your husband's sperm count.
