I have the mirena IUD as of Feb 9 9006. It was painful the first few weeks and forget sleeping on your stomach for at least three months. In Oct I started having severe abdominal pains. Not cramps!!! These pains lasted for days on end. I couldn't get off the couch or out of my shower. My husband was in training and I had noone to help get me to the hospital or doctor for that matter. I've taken the pain on and off since that week, thanks to 800 mil on Motrin it's not so harsh. My periods began twice a month in Nov 2006 and again in Dec. My normal time was 3-4 days max with light flow and since Oct I am on a 7-15 day light flow with spotting between the second 7-15 day regiment. I have had it! My appt is Jan 9 for removal. My husband leaves me in Feb for Overseas and I refuse to continue such agony. I feel I am in constant menstral. I am 25 and have not had children. This may not happen to you, but I am not continuing to let it happen to me.
