WHAT?  it doesn't take minutes for the egg to be fertilized.  it takes 6-7 hours for it to get to the egg.

From everything I've read, sperm typically live up to three days (although SOME studies have shown longer in ideal environments) and the egg can live up to 24 hours.  That makes the five days where sex can typically result in conception: three days before ovulation, two days before ovulation, one day before ovulation, the day of ovulation and the day after ovulation.

This is false information about your cycle. No matter how long your cycle is, you do not ovulate on cd 14 with a cycle that lasts 28 days. That is a MYTH. The follicular phase (from your menses to ovulation) is not constant from cycle to cycle, this can vary from woman to woman, and even from cycle to cycle in the SAME woman. The only true way to know if and when you ovulate is to chart your basal body temperature each morning at the same time each day, plot it on a chart and look to see a pattern. I have had 28 day cycles where I have ovulated on cd 10, 11, 12 and 13, this is false information perpetuated for years on ignorance.
