ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - when did i ovulate

Expert: Kristy - 12/16/2006

Question
if i ovulated on the 25th through the 30th of july and my due date is april 26th then what day did i most likely get pregnant?

Answer
Hi Amber :)

I did some calculations, and surprisingly, my numbers differ from yours. Now keep in mind, that I calculated based that you do indeed have a normal 28 day cycle.

I think you ovulated a little later, then you think!

According to my numbers, the estimated date of conception, was not until August the 3rd. As of January 25th, you will ending your second trimester, and just entering your third. Which makes complete sense, according to your due date.

Remember, its possible that you might have began ovulation on the 30th of July, but didnt actually conceive until August the 3rd. There is about a 3 day time frame, and even if you did have intercourse on the 30th, sperm lives for 3-4 days. You might have not actually released an egg, until the 2nd of August, but it was fertilized on the 3rd. Remember, from the time an egg is released, it lives about 24 hours. So, I really do think you ovulated a little later then you think!

I hope this answers your question, and thanks for writing!

-Kristy
