About Andi Cohen
Expertise
I am a surrogate mother so I can answer basic questions about surrogate pregnancy - the process, medical issues, the experience. I cannot answer direct medical questions, as I am not a doctor.

Experience
I gave birth to my surrogate baby girl on 06-06-06! I am officially retired as a surrogate mother now but am still heavily involved in the mentoring, legal and medical process for other surrogate mothers and intended parents. I am involved in 3 networks of other surrogate mothers and intended parents. I have been involved in the legal/contract/medical process of surrogacy for over 18 months. I am also a mother of two.

ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - pain killers while in 3rd trimester

Question
A friend of mine is 8 months pregnant and she is takeing percaset 15 and loracet 10 for restless leg syndrom. is this ok or should she take something else?

Answer
Hi Jaime,

I wouldnt take that for restless legs; especially while pregnant. But if her doctor is prescribing it, I really cant argue that. The percocet is a drug that the affects on a baby are not known; it is a narcotic...

if it were ME I would find another remedy, sometimes the dr will prescribe extra iron for Restless legs, or other meds that are safer  for pregnancy.

And I did have restless legs while pregnant this time around. I didnt take anything for it but I was anemic (low iron) so it may have been a symptom of that.

hopefully your friends pain will go away and she will have the baby with no problems at all, but no, I would not take percocet while pregnant.
