ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - when can you get pregnant

Expert: Lawrence Jay Rappaport M.D. - 3/17/2005

Question
When can I conceive a child? I am 32 years old have one child and the first day of my last cycle was saturday March 5 through Saturday March 12.

Answer
If you have a normal 28 day cycle (from the first day of your period until the first day of your next period) ovulation occurs on cycle day #14. YOu can only become pregnant if you have unprotected sex on cycle day #13,14,15,or 16 each month. If your last period started on March 5, then you would have ovulated on March 18 and should concentrated on having sex on March 17,18,19, and 20 in order to conceive. If you do become pregnant on one of those days, a pregnancy test will not show a positive result until 14-21 days later. The best time to take a pregnancy test is seven days after missing your period.
