Followup To hello Doctor,first of all thanx 4 quick& informative answer.1stday of last mensturalperiod was 20thjune,today its 5th Augugst but still my period is not coming.i did b-hcg blood test on 1stAugust & its result was 0.28 .doctor u suggested me provera10mg for 5days but my friend who is in final year of medical suggested that i am still so young so i shouldn,t use it for resumption of period as in future i will rely on it.how far it is true and also tell me am i 100% not pregnant as test on 1st august was 0.28mIU/Ml.I will be really obliged for ur answers to my questions and other suggestions if u need them necessary

i am 15 years old.first day of last period was 20th june.u have suggested provera 10mg twice aday for 5days.now my question is that what are side effects and possible reaction of provera.and second part of my question is that if i start these tablets and my periods start on first day of its use then still should i continue them and third if i use them and still my periods donot come then is it 100% sure sign of pregnancy.last part of my question is that can provera tablets effect pregnancy blood or urine test i mean if i use them and after two days if i do urine preg test will it give incorrect result.Sir u r not only most knowledgable doctor i knowon net but also my only source of help so hope u will answer me quickly and in detail .i shall be really obliged

If your period started on June 20, and a pregnancy test after July 24 showed a positive result, you are definitely not pregnant. Provera will bring on your period if all of your reproductive organs are working. You must take the Provera twice a day for five days, whether you start bleeding or not. Provera will not interfere with a pregnancy if you are pregnant, but you are not pregnant if the pregnancy test has been negative. If you do not bleed after taking the Provera, it may mean that you do not have enough estrogen production. Discuss all of this with your doctor. Provera will not interfere with a pregnancy test either. If you are unsure, take two blood pregnancy tests, 48 hours apart. If the results are less than 5, you are not pregnant. If the results double in 48 hours, it indicates a pregnancy.
Answer The pregnancy test was 0.28. As I mentioned before, any test less than 5 is a negative pregnancy test. Therefore, you are definitely not pregnant. Provera is the medication you should take to bring on your period, as your doctor mentioned. Your frined (who is in medical school) does not know what they are talking about. Provera will not mess up your cycle. It merely brings on your period. AFter that, it should get back to being regular. If your period does not return to a regular period, you may have to go on birth control pills for awhile to regulate your period. Don't listen to anyone who has not had training. Your doctor has, in addition to medical school, been a resident for 4 years and has been in practice.
