Question
Hello,

I am 29 weeks pregnant .My prepregnancy weight was 105 lbs but i am now 140 lbs . am i gaining too much ? how much should i suppose to gain ? (my height is 5 feet). i was 125 lbs at 20 weeks . should i keep check on my diet ? whats the max weight i should gain ?

Answer
We usually suggest that you gain around 30lbs for the entire pregnancy. It is nice to gain 2-3lbs each visit, but that also depends on your overall weight at the start of the pregnancy. Most of the weight that you gain is due to retention of fluid and you should discuss it with your doctor if it appears that you have gained too much weight so far.
