Question
If I weigh 170 lbs.(at 5'6) before I get pregnant, is there are risk to me and my child during pregnancy and delivery?

Answer
Hello Jenn. Well, the risks include difficulty delivering vaginally. Though you may think the excess wt. is what you can see on the outside, there is also excess padding inside, around your organs etc. This may cause some problem when the baby needs to pass through your pelvic organs. It would be best to shed some pounds before you get pregnant. If however, you are all ready pregnant, you CAN shed the unwanted pounds during pregnancy IF you eat ONLY what I am about to describe.NO FLOUR, NO SUGAR, NO ADDED FATS. That means- NO bread made from flour, no noodles or pasta, NO desserts, baking, candy, sweets, ice cream etc. You may have three pieces of fruit a day- and ONLY three. You must eat lots of protein- 80-100 grams each day- get a counter for your protein and keep track- that means lots of chicken- no flour or corn starch thickened sauces, beef, eggs, low fat dairy, fish etc. Many women I have cared for have succeeded in losing wt. throughout their entire pregnancy and producing nice large babies of over 8 pounds. If you want more details, post back to me. Cheri.
