ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - weird cycles

Expert: Lawrence Jay Rappaport M.D. - 6/29/2006

Question
I have irregular cycles. My lmp was 6-8-2006 and its now June 29th. Im scared that i have polycystic ovaries because i have facial hair that i have to get waxed all the time and i have the irregular periods. Is it possible to get pregnant having that? I have been having weird feelings lately in my abdomen like gasey sorts of feelings but i have never had the feelings before. I also have been feeling nauseous and moody. My cycles usually last for about 30-35 days and my fiancee and i have had unprotected sex for the past few weeks now. Could i be having those feelings for some other reason. I couldnt possibly be feeling any pregnancy symptoms for at least a nother month if i was pregnant. I know i sound stupid and i keep talking. But im just concerned.

Answer
Hirsuitism is only one of the manifestations of PCS. If you have irregular cycles, are obese, or haave facial hair, see a gynecologist and blood tests will rule out PCOS. You certanly can conceive and have a baby even if you do have PCOS.If you have a 30-35 day cycle, ovulation occurs between cycle day #16-21 and you should concentrate on having sex on those days each month. If you have doubts, I would suggest consultatin with a gynecologist.
