ObGyn/Pregnancy issues - yasmin dosage

Question
Hi,

I'd like to find out whether a woman's periods can get delayed by a few days if she's discontinued Yasmin by Schering. My wife was on Yasmin during her last cycle, then for the current she stopped taking it, and technically she is now a day late. There is a very very slim chance she could be pregnant but aside from that is it normal for her period to be late this way?

Do let me know as I am concerned for her.

Thanks and rgds

Sheldon

Answer
Once you stop a birth control (any brand), your period can be delayed, or you can even start your cycle earlier than usual. Your cycle will eventually regulate itself. If you believe your wife may have conceived, take a pregnancy test seven days after she should have started her period. If it is negative at that time, she is not pregnant. If she does not get her period for two months, call her gynecologist and have her period induced using Provera 10mg twice a day, and she should get her period within 10 days.
