Question I have a 40 year old oboe in excellent condition, recently overhauled, it has the name "Benetone" on it but I think it was made by another maker. What is it's worth???
Answer Hello Sandra,
I have been searching for the maker of the Benetone oboes, but have found very little. I am sorry I am unable to help you on that front.
As to the selling price of the oboe, a lot of that depends on the condition of the instrument, intonation and overall condition of the mechanism. If the oboe is wood that can increase the value and if it is a full conservatory model that will increase the value as well.
I think that it might be worth taking it to a reputable double reed dealer and have them give you an appraisal.
