Question
i'm gonna buy an oboe as an hobbyist. would you suggest an automatic romeo orsi?
thank you

Answer
Hello Deniz,
I have little knowledge or Romeo Orsi oboes, although my understanding is that they are usually of an intermediate to beginner range.
I would suggest that you buy the best instrument you can afford, as an inferior instrument that succumbs easily to mechanical gremlins and spends more time in the shop will diminish your enjoyment of playing and may make you quit.
There are some very good instruments out there. I would strongly advise you to seek out a reputable double reed dealer to help you find an instrument in your price range and that meets your requirements.  I would stay away from purchasing an instrument from Internet auction sites no matter how alluring the price.
What you need as a beginner is an instrument that is going to help your progress, not hinder it.
Hope this helps.
