Question
Hawkes oboe
Hawkes oboe
Hi,
I was given this old oboe years ago and totally forgot about it.  I have time now to try and learn a new instrument and I was wondering if you could tell me if it is actually worth having serviced as I don't know if older instruments deteriorate with lack of use.  It is a Hawkes & Son, London, RMB, 79, 3028

Thank you for your time,

Joanne

Answer
Dear Joanne

Thank you for asking me about this instrument.

From the photograph though I see that it is in fact a clarinet and not an oboe so you had better try a clarinet specialist as I have no real knowledge of the value of old clarinets.

All the best with your search
