Question
oboe
oboe
I picked up this Selmer Oboe and see that the model isn't easy for a novice to figure out.   Any help would be appreciated.

Answer
Dear Ken

From the picture you sent to me I think you have a Selmer Student oboe known as a "Selmer 1492B".

It is made of wood-grained plastic and goes down to low B and not low B flat as on more advanced models.
This makes the instrument a touch lighter in weight and cheaper to make.
They are a good robust student instrument but I think that they have been discontinued.
They sold for around $2000 but go cheaply on ebay.

Best wishes
