Subject: Ladder safety

Question
What is the proper way to hold an extension ladder for the worker using it?
Do I hold it from the inside or the outside?

Answer
Good question. What do you feel more comfortable doing?

There are pros & cons for either way. My preference, which is what I tell my guys, is to hold it from the outside, while the worer clinmbs it and ties the ladder off to prevent it from falling.

There is no OSHA ruling for how to hold the ladder when someone else is climbing it.

Thank you for the question.
