Subject: roofing

Question
Are there any regulations on roofers carry shingles up ladders for of safety reasons? I was getting estimates for a reroof and some roofers said they carry them up and some use a boom.

Answer
Thank you for the question. My apologies for the delay in answering as I have been ill.

There are no written regulations to my knowledge. However, it is safer to place them on the roof using booms. It is never safe to carry anything while climbing a ladder. You should place what you need in a bucket of other container and hoist it up with a rope, pulley or other safe lifting method.

I hope this answers your question.
