I recently had a cast cut off my foot.  Th small saw (3" diameter)  looked like a large Dremel tool.  The nurse as long hair, not tied back; the blade had no protective cover, the nurse wore no glasses or dust mask.  The nurse did wear Nitrile gloves.  There was a lot of dust. They placed a disposable sheet down to collect what they could.  I leand well away  but I am sure that during that 20 minute ordeal  The nurse had more exposure than I did.     I did ask how often she removes casts, she said  every day, sometimes three or four.  That is a lot of exposure  and a very risky process.
