Oil/Gas - land owner rights to gas and oil

Expert: Alan H. Coogan - 11/4/2009

Question
Is there a standard amount of gas and oil that the landowner receives and is there a limit to this if the production of the well drops off?  What is the standard rate of cubic feet for the landowner?

Answer
Dear Mary:

There is no standard rate.  A commonly used amount is 200 MCF/year (200,000 cubic feet), typically will heat a single family  house.

The range s from zero to "unlimited".

Yes there us a limit if the well drops off related to physical, ecoomic and contractual
matters.
