Oil/Gas - Old Gas & oil lease

Expert: Laura M. FitzGerald, CPL - 6/30/2009

Question
My wife recently found some gas and oil leases from the 50's and 60's that
belonged to her uncle would they be worth anything

Answer
That's a very open-ended question.

Many things need to be determined:
a) Are the minerals in production? If so, where is the property located? What kind of well activity surrounds the property?

b) Are the minerals still owned by the family, or have them been sold? Or have the minerals reverted to the surface owner because of non-production.

If you could provide me with the County/Parish, State of the property; and the section, township and range, this would be a start.

It may be easiest, for you just to provide me with a copy of the leases you found.  You could fax or email them to me.

My fax no. is 318-219-2466 (attn: Laura) - or my email is: lfitzgerald@iliosresources.com

I'll be glad to look into this for you.
