Question
Does the SP of diesel vary from batch to batch and does it change throughout the day under changing temperatures? Thank you. Mark

Answer
Yes to both. Specific gravity is the ratio of density of a  material to the density of water at a specified temperature.

Therefore, as temps change so does sg. Moreover, diesel is a term for a variety of hydrocarbon compounds of different densities.
