Question I am named heir of a property that was approached four years ago by an oil/gas company requesting a lease agreement. This has since expired. When the time comes for me to inherit the property, how may i begin to develop the gas resources ?
Answer You do not indicate what state you reside in, nor how many acres this tract is comprised of.
Unless you want to spend the money to drill the well yourself, you must rely on an Oil and Gas Operator to have interest in developing it themselves.
You could contact your state oil and gas regulatory agency and inquire as to the well activity in this area which would give you an idea which Operators are in this area. Once you determined this, you could contact those Operators and see if they were interested in leasing your acreage for development.
